Hangouts

The Hangouts program is designed to provide a flexible and personalized space where kids can engage in activities or simply unwind.

Collaborative Planning: We work closely with families to design hangouts that meet each child's unique needs, whether they want to relax, play, or focus on learning. Parents are welcome to stay, join in, or drop off.

Individual or Group Sessions: Hangouts can be customized for solo time or group interaction. As we receive inquiries, we can help match kids with others who would be a good fit to hang out in the space together.

Activities Options:

  • Games! Play from our collection or bring favorites from home.

  • Support with schoolwork or other projects.

  • Explore topics like neurodiversity or other special interests.

  • Low demand - nothing planned. Read, chill, your choice.

Supervision: Sessions are facilitated by Lyndsey, a clinical counsellor and certified teacher, ensuring a safe and supportive atmosphere. While not formal therapy, the space can provide therapeutic benefits.

Neurodiversity-Affirming: Every interaction is guided by a neurodiversity-affirming approach, encouraging self-regulation and and embracing each child’s unique strengths.

Our Space (see images below):

  • Comfortable environment with a large sofa, chairs, floor seating and a desk.

  • Sensory tools such as weighted blankets, body socks, and fidget items available.

  • Quiet, low-stimulation atmosphere with natural lighting.

  • Due to the size of the space, hangouts will be limited to a 4 person maximum

Email Lyndsey to set up a Hangout, or to set up a call to discuss. Hangouts can be paid for using AFU and homeschool funds.
